Now that week 8 is in the books and Paddi managed to pull off a win, I thought it appropriate to do a little wrap up so he knows the start of his comeback from obscurity has not gone unnoticed, plus a little week 9 preview.
So starting with Macadoo doo doo as this week’s featured team of the week (even though they weren’t highest scorers – well done Corellia Captains) – Paddi was able to cruise to a near-60 point victory over poor Chris’ fledgling Seahawks. Matt Ryan was MDD’s star performer and could be in the running for league MVP status if he keeps up his current form. They were also helped out by R Kelley (not that one), who managed to get in the Wembley end zone and mighty Allen Hurns getting it done, albeit in vain as the Jags slumped to another loss.
The aforementioned Corellia Captains were involved in the league’s game of the week, overcoming The Autumn Wind in a +200 point scorefest. Had TAW started the Panthers over the Cowboys D, they’d have come out narrowly on top, but that’s fantasy for you. Also worth a mention is Peter and his Gridiron Heroes notching their second win in a row to get back to 500 as they prepare for a playoff run – he’s no doubt hoping Eli and the Giants can replicate his momentum when they return from their bye week on Sunday.
And finally, in the biggest news of the week – GOLIATH HAS BEEN DEFEATED! Yes, the ’72 Dolphins were heard popping the champagne as Air Cavalry’s perfect record was shattered by My Ball Zach Ertz, who moved level with a 7-1 record. It turned out to be not even close in the end, with AC suffering a collective let-down (maybe the pressure of perfection got too much), while MBZE managed to hit 100 points with Alex Smith as his quarterback. Remarkable.
A look at the league tables show three teams on 7-1 (including TDT, but I won’t blow our trumpet this week) plus a slew of other teams within spitting distance. Because each division winner automatically makes the playoffs, the TDT North in particular is up for grabs – with it replicating its AFC namesake in producing astoundingly mediocre football teams.
This week’s marquee matchups include Just Win Baby taking on the GOAT to establish control in the TDT North, Air Cavalry taking on The Autumn Wind in a high powered cross-divisional face-off and Seahawks taking on Beauty and the Beastmode for bragging rights among our green and blue contingent.
Good luck to everyone this week and as Journey once said – don’t stop believing!
